Musical Director | Alice Dicker |
We are delighted to welcome Alice
as Musical Director of Yeovil Chamber Choir |
|||
Alice grew
up in Somerton and started learning the clarinet age 10. She was one of
the earliest members of the Somerton Band, and won the Arts Festival
‘Young Musician’ competition on several occasions. At 13 she passed her
Grade 8 examination and subsequently earned a music scholarship to
Queens College, Taunton. At 17, while studying for her A levels, Alice
was awarded the DipABRSM for performance. |

After finishing Sixth Form, Alice studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. During her time there, she took the opportunity to study many facets of music – from conducting and performance coaching, through to Alexander Technique and both solo and orchestral performance.
After a car
accident in 2017, Alice refocused her energies on singing, teaching and
conducting. She is the Musical Director for Yeovil Chamber Choir, South
Petherton Combined Arts Society Choir and Mid Wessex Singers. Alice is
also the vocal coach/singing teacher at Huish Episcopi Academy and
Strode College, has a handful of private students, and works as a
freelance singer and conductor. |
